Hi Everyone, Came across your site and knew I had to join to expand my knowledge. Been Towing for 12 years. Starting our own business with my wife part time for 10 years to take up free time after the kids left home. I worked in an aluminium smelter as a shiftworker and had plenty of spare time and energy. We mainly focused on car bodies with beach and bush recovery thrown in to make it interesting. Along with the towing we hired trailers out and transported horses. It was great to get to the smelter to have an easy day.
Our gear in the business was always basic 62 series Landcruiser, 45 series ute and trailer, 69 D series Ford, Isuzu 6 ton tipper with 3.3ton hi-ab. Isuzu Tilt tray and tilt trailer.
I now contract drive for a local company that does police work, accidents, repo's and containers as well as caravans and steel transport. Mine equipment underground and above. Bush recovery is now done with escavators ar Bob cats ( stolen recovered ).
In my spare time I do car bodies and scrap metal with over 400 hours of work waiting for me in our front yard.
I've left the smelter and love my life with full on towing the main part of the cashflow. I'll get a few photo's via photobucket happening soon. Bruce
